Newport to Winchester Bay, Oregon

So I claimed the 80-mile plus day in the last blog, and we succeeded…84 miles to be exact.  Not to bad.

The day started off in Newport, Oregon where the foggy was thick and our stomachs were full from the Chinese food session we had the evening before (not the best idea).  The start of the ride was cold, and wet, but as the miles pushed on, the clouds started to lift, and the Oceanside overlooks and beaches easily came into view.

The coast here is way prettier than I imagined: Endless postcard views, unbelievable waves, unreal rock formations, rainforest like forests, and to top it all off, whale and sea lion sightings.  That right, we even saw whales…and wait…we saw Dave Steiner!  Now he is onboard and pushing along for the cause and to help us all out with his biking experience and knowledge.

After about 55 miles of pedaling, we decided to grab lunch in our original destination spot, Florence, Oregon.  During lunch we decided to pedal onward and make a move ahead of schedule.  We pushed on to Winchester Bay putting ourselves about 30 miles ahead.  Lets see where tomorrow takes us.

Keep on reading and we will keep on pedaling!
